Baron Craze wrote an amazing article about the Terror Film Festival 2007, and guess what? Night Terrors was included in that article! We thank Baron for his generous words, you can read them below:

"Strangely, after what one would deem to be the last day of the fest...the award show, there was to be one last day of films. However, this not to say these films were worthless, in fact that was far from the truth, these quality films sadly were not seen by many fellow filmmakers, much to their loss yet, the audience was entertained with such delights.....First, of significance were NIGHT TERRORS an interesting film from California, and from Taryn Hough who never went to film school, and is a self-taught woman, who funded her film by doing corporate videos, which probably inspired this production as it deals with a man dealing with the conflicting worlds of fantasy and reality. In which, life in many corporate videos tries to sell a happy, blissful positive side while actually, there is nothing but lies and grim reality. It is easy to detect why the film selected to festival, for its very promising, both in cinematic creation and directing style.."

Terror Film Festival

I just got back from the Terror Film Festival which took place in Philadelphia Oct. 16th-21st. I wasn't able to attend to the whole festival, but I was there for the last two days of it and I had a GREAT time. I met a lot of great people, saw a lot of great films, one of those great films was of course Night Terrors. The short was shown twice on Sunday (the last day of the festival), after which I gave a q&a to the audience. I'll post some photos of me that were taken at the q&a soon. I can't stress enough how nice everyone at the festival was and how honored we are that our film was accepted. Were excited to start working on our next project to submit to the Terror Film Festival next year. If you'd like to find out more about the festival click here

We got into the Terror Film Festival 2007!

So guess what? We got accepted into the Terror Film Fest 2007. The festival takes place in Philly, Oct 16-21 and we were one of 69 films accepted out of the 250+ submissions. Night Terrors plays on the 21st at 2pm. Needless to say, were pretty excited.

Nominations for The Claw Awards get announced in a week or two, hopefully we'll be on that list to, but if were not, were seriously just stoked to be apart of the festival.

"Night Terrors" won it's first award! We just found out that we won a Grand Goldie from the 2007 Grand Goldie Film Awards, which takes place in Florida. Our winning plaque will be sent out to us by the end of next week, we'll make sure to post a photo of it once we have it.

That's right boys and girls your eyes are not deceiving you, you read that title correctly.....The Movie....Is......DONE!!!!!!

Were submitting the short to at least five festivals this year and to at least another five next year. We should start to hear back about acceptance starting in September, I'll keep you updated

I just had a quick listen to the almost completed music for Night Terrors and I could not be happier! It's better than I could have ever imagined, can't wait for you guys to hear it.

Rough cut of Night Terrors DONE!!!.....And this time I mean it

A rough cut of Night Terrors is done!!! The short is around 10 minutes long and everything looks great! The color has been corrected, sound leveled, atmosphere sounds/noise have been added, etc....Music is being composed for it now, which is the short's final "step" to completion.

I included some screen captures to get everyone excited, because that's what people do when they look at a computer, right? They get excited?

Rough cut of Night Terrors COMPLETE!!!......minus one day of shooting

Okay.....So technically what we have is not a rough cut. We have one day of shooting left (which we will get in the beginning of January), but everything else has been edited and color corrected and mixed (sound). So it's kind of like a rough cut.

The short will be complete by the end of January/early February, with a screening scheduled for late February.

I'm going to edit a trailer for the short if I get the chance, so if I do, you'll be the first to see it! Along with the millions of others that reads this ;-)

Today was our first day of shooting. Everything went great and I can not wait to start editing the footage! Our amazing onset photographer captured the moments with hundreds of photos. Below are a handful of some of my favorite shoots (click on the images to enlarge)

'Night Terrors' films TOMORROW

We start shooting tomorrow, Monday the 13th. Were all very excited about our first day of filming and are looking forward to reviewing all of the footage Tuesday. As promised, we'll post some of the onset photos taken Monday by the end of the week and I'll include some screen captures from the footage. Check back in the next couple of days to see what we've been up to.

Everyone to their starting line.....Now rehearse!

We just had another rehearsal last night and everything went great, - actually, everything went better than great. Both of the films leads, Eric and Alan, gave stellar off book performances and I couldn’t have asked for better interaction between Eric and his mini costar, Theodore the dog. (pictured above)

I can not wait to start filming this Monday and get the first shot in the can. We will have an onset photographer thru out filming courtesy of Hamilton Pictures , so expect to see some photos from Monday's shoot!

Test from the ridge

So the main character in Night Terrors has dreams involving running down a secluded ridge, and since I want nothing but the best for my actors, I did a test shot for lighting on said secluded ridge. I added some music to the background so you can't hear me saying, "Now fall.....Run faster....Faster...I'm going to get you....I think I peed a little"....Enjoy

Fake blood test

We did some test shots for color today and made some fake blood. Surprisingly, fake blood isn't that hard to make. We used Strawberry syrup as our base opposed to the more popular choice, corn syrup. I may post some footage of the light tests later this evening, but who knows; - we don't want to give too much away. Enjoy the footage of fake blood (sorry for the poor picture quality, it's our host) and make sure your speakers are on. I added some music to it.

Filming of Night Terrors BEGINS!!!

Our first day of shooting starts Monday, Nov. 13th. The entire short will be shot by mid December with a rough cut completed by the end of January. We'll of course keep you updated thru the whole process,- and who knows. If you're lucky, we might even post some on set photos. You know.....If we take any....

A night terror, also known as sleep terror or pavor nocturnus, is a parasomnia sleep disorder characterized by extreme terror and a temporary inability to regain full consciousness. The subject wakes abruptly from the fourth stage of sleep, with waking usually accompanied by gasping, moaning, or screaming. It is often impossible to fully awaken the person, and after the episode the subject normally settles back to sleep without waking. A night terror can occasionally be recalled by the subject.
